It has been decided to award two contracts for people who are suffering from and recovering from substance misuse and at risk of homelessness:
(i) The award of a contract to Humankind for an abstinence-based supported housing service at a cost of £169,439 per annum, for a period of up to five years; and
(ii) the award of a contract to Shelter for a recovery and prevention service at a cost of £330,000 a year for a period five years.
Both contracts will begin on 7 February 2019.
These two services will replace contracts that were put in place in 2013 with similar provision. The services will meet important strategic objectives in relation to improving health and wellbeing, by reducing homelessness, substance misuse and inequality.
The tenders were advertised on Yortender, a tendering and contracts system used by Sheffield City Council. A panel of commissioners evaluated the tenders based on quality and price. Awards have been made to the bids achieving the highest scores for each of the two tendering opportunities.
