Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Purpose:

Approval is sought for the Council to act as an Accountable Body for the receipt of £39,074 funding from the Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government in the form of an un-ring fenced grant for 2018/19. The grant will be used to fund a project which will support LGBT+ victims of domestic abuse to access safe accommodation.

Decision:

That the Cabinet Member agrees to:

(i)            accept the MHCLG Domestic Abuse Grant Offer (2018-2020) of up to £112,600;

(ii)          become the Accountable Body for the grant on behalf of third parties - Barnsley Council, Doncaster Council and Rotherham Council; and

(iii)         make grant payments to third parties (SAYiT) of up to £112,600.

Reasons for the decision:

The project will have value for citizens of Sheffield and across South Yorkshire and will improve outcomes for people affected by domestic abuse who are LGBT+.  SAYiT are a local specialist provider and there are no similar providers with a sufficient track record in Sheffield or South Yorkshire to undertake this work.
