The report seeks agreement for the site of the former Birley Secondary School caretaker house to be declared surplus as it is no longer required by the portfolio for the delivery of services.
Decision:
That the site of the former caretaker’s house at Birley Secondary School be declared surplus as it is no longer part of Birley Secondary School and is not required by the portfolio for the delivery of other services.
Reasons for the decision:
The site is vacant and no longer required for education purposes and the portfolio does not require them for the delivery of other services.
Alternative options considered:
Portfolio services have been consulted on identifying alternative use for the houses, none have been identified. Continuing to leave the site vacant will mean the Council having to commit funding on a regular basis for vacant property maintenance.
