To provide face coverings where staff are asked to travel on public transport to perform critical services, and this is the only reasonable option available.

The Government announcement this week confirmed that wearing face coverings on public transport would be compulsory from 15^th June.  The decision to provide face coverings has been taken in line with that guidance and the Council’s duties as an employer.

Given the current stock levels and the need for coverings to be provided by the 15^th, non-PPE grade masks will be issued.  Guidance on the use of masks will also be provided.

This does not include how staff choose to travel to and from the workplace.
