Purpose:

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner provide an annual grant of £548,000 towards the cost of commissioning a Criminal Justice Integrated Team and an Arrest Referral service in Shepcote Lane Custody Suite.

Decision:

The Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care makes a decision to accept the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner’s grant of £548,000 to contribute to the commissioning of CJIT services for drug using offenders.

 

Reasons for the decision:

The DACT and more recently SCC has received this money either from the PCC or the Home Office directly since 2006 and it is intrinsic to the resources required to commission effective CJIT and Arrest referral services.

 

To improve the health, recovery from addiction and long term reintegration of drug users in Sheffield whilst reducing drug related crime.

Alternative options considered:

Do not accept the grant and reduce the DACT substance misuse treatment budget accordingly.
