This report describes the measures to assist buses in manoeuvring to the bus stops on high Street by shortening an existing loading bay.

(i) The Traffic Regulation Order is made in accordance with the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984;

(ii) introduce the associated highway works, lining and signing as shown in Appendix A of the report (SD_2054_HST_P01); and

(iii) carry out the works necessary so as to implement the aforementioned traffic management measures.

The proposed highway works and TRO will prevent parking in the front of the loading bay. These measures will assist buses in accessing the stops on High Street.

A simple extension of the existing loading and waiting restrictions was considered, but felt to be ineffective in ensuring, as far as possible, vehicles would not park in the front of the loading bay. A combination of physical measures and amendments to the TRO were considered most effective in ensuring compliance.
