Licensing Act 2003 - To Consider an Objection to Interim Steps Imposed in Respect of a Premises Licence

4.1

The Chief Licensing Officer submitted a report to consider an objection to the Interim Steps, imposed under Section 53A of the Licensing Act 2003, in respect of the premises licence now mentioned (Ref. No.58/17).

 

 

4.2

Present at the meeting were the Premises Licence Holder, her business partner and a legal representative on behalf of the premises, Josephine Chu and John O’Malley (Counsel for South Yorkshire Police), Clive Stephenson (Licensing Strategy and Policy Officer), Marie Claire Frankie (Solicitor to the Sub-Committee), Samantha Bond (Legal Adviser to the Sub-Committee) and Jennie Skiba (Democratic Services).

 

 

4.3

Clive Stephenson presented the report and it was noted that representations had been received from the Premises Licence Holder against the Interim Steps taken by the Licensing Sub-Committee on 4th May, 2017 to suspend the licence, and were attached at Appendix “A” to the report.

 

 

4.4

Following consideration of the representations made by the Premises Licence Holder and her representatives and by Counsel for South Yorkshire Police, and the legal advice provided, the Sub-Committee considered that the interim steps, imposed on 4th May, 2017, were necessary for the promotion of the licensing objectives.
