31/03/2017 - Retaining the World Snooker Championships in Sheffield Post 2017 ref: 1772    Recommendations Approved

This report proposes steps to retain the World Snooker Championships in Sheffield after 2017.

Decision:

That the Executive Leader:-

 

(i) approves the principle of the City continuing to host the World Snooker Championships at least until the 50th anniversary in 2027 on the basis set out in the report; and

 

(ii) delegates authority to the Director of Business Strategy and Regulation (Place), in consultation with the Director of Legal and Governance and the Executive Director, Resources, to enter into such contractual and other arrangements with World Snooker Limited and other third parties, as he shall consider appropriate to achieve the successful implementation of recommendation above and to generally protect the Council’s interests in this matter.

To award the contract to Framework Housing Association for the provision of a Rough Sleeper Service and resettlement service from 1st June 2017 to the 31st May 2020, with the option to extend for a further 2 years. This will be at a total cost of £582,072 for the 3 year period.
