17/09/2020 - Waste Management Policies & TEEP (Technically, Environmentally and Economically Practicable) Update - 2020 ref: 2596    Recommendations Approved (subject to call-in)

The report updates the Council’s waste policies which were last fully reviewed and updated in 2017 as part of the Council’s Waste Contract Review.

Decision:

That the Cabinet Member for Environment, Streetscene and Climate Change:-

 

(a)  approves the content of the revised policies as set out in the report and the implementation of the revised policies which enable the waste service to provide clear parameters to residents on how waste services will be delivered;

 

(b)  acknowledges that the outcome of the review of collection services ensures compliance with the requirements of The Waste Framework Directive as implemented in England and Wales through the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011; and

 

(c)  delegates authority to the Director of Operational Services, in consultation with the Director of Finance and Commercial Services and the Director of Legal and Governance, to approve the introduction of a 240 litre blue bin for paper and card.

11/09/2020 - Leasehold Buildings Insurance Contract ref: 2592    Recommendations Approved

The report seeks authority to procure a contract for Leasehold Buildings Insurance for the period 1st April 2021 to 30 March 2026, to provide Buildings insurance cover for all Sheffield City Council leaseholder flats and maisonettes originally purchased under Right to Buy legislation. In addition, to explore insurance costs for a future estimated 200 Shared Ownership Properties.

(a)  approves the proposed additions and variations to the Capital Programme listed in Appendix 1 of the report, including the procurement strategies, and delegates authority to the Director of Finance and Commercial Services or nominated Officer, as appropriate, to award the necessary contracts; and

 

(b)  approves the acceptance of grants as detailed in Appendix 2 of the report.
