Closure and removal of licensing for Doggy Den, Little London Road

We the undersigned petition the council to To revoke the licence referencing a Boarding Establishment for Animals under the Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963 in respect of premises known as The Doggy Den, Little London Road, Sheffield S8 0UH.

Recent allegations and video evidence have been brought to light that show the proprietor namely Tom Greatorex has been complicit in the endangerment of dogs under his care.

Tom has confirmed the following statements on video –

1) Confirmed that on at least 4 occasions spanning over 24 months, a number of dogs have been assaulted and abused in the premises.
A Video taken from CCTV showing an employee (Jack) throwing a hard rubber kong toy in the face of a dog TG confirmed this as an abusive action on recorded video statement.
B Video taken from CCTV showing an employee (Jack) kicking a dog TG confirmed this as an abusive action on recorded video statement.
C Video taken from CCTV showing a female employee (unknown) repeatedly kicking a dog TG confirmed this as an abusive action on recorded video statement.
D In a video interview TG confirmed that another dog had been kicked and the employee had been fired as a result

2) Tom confirmed that he has no qualifications in dog training, behaviourism or control of a large number of animals. He admitted he is self taught, however he is charging £50 per hour to “train dogs”
3) Tom confirmed that he teaches his staff to use their legs & feet to discipline/control dogs. This is what has resulted in a large number of dogs being kicked by members of staff.
4) Tom has confirmed that he doesn’t review the CCTV on a regular basis
5) Tom has confirmed that although these videos are up to 2 years old, he has not attempted to contact the owners of the dogs in order to explain that they may have needed medical attention after being assaulted.
6) Tom has confirmed that he was made aware of the videos verbally, but did not fire 2 of the employees who abused dogs, no investigation was made as to the content of the videos and the main abuser (Jack) was celebrated on the companies facebook page when he left to join the army a number of months later.
7) Tom has confirmed in other interviews that the CCTV is erased after 1 week, making it impossible to view previous footage if a dog owner has concerns about their dogs welfare.
8) A number of pet owners have reported incidents where their dog has been removed from attendance at the doggy den, due to fears of mistreatment.
9) Tom has refused to install Web Cameras in the doggy den due to the “pressure it would put on staff” However, the only pressure would be to not kick or abuse dogs.

As Mr Greatorex has been actively complicit in the abuse of a large number of dogs, failing to safeguard future incidents from happening and failing to report incidents of animal cruelty, a petition to revoke the licence for the Doggy Den has been established, along with a request to ban Mr Greatorex from ever receiving any future licences that allow him to work with dogs.
