Designate Norton Aerodrome as a WWII commemorative site to preserve Sheffield's wartime legacy

We the undersigned petition the council to Designate Norton Aerodrome as a WWII commemorative site to preserve Sheffield's wartime legacy

Designate the former Norton Aerodrome, Norton Avenue, as a city heritage site because of its important role in protecting Sheffield during WWII. The site housed anti-aircraft barrage balloons and was an RAF training site during WWII. The site would make an excellent memorial park and is already reverting into a wildlife site.

On the hundredth anniversary of the end of WWI safeguarding and preserving this important part of Sheffield history for future generations would be a fitting gesture to remember those who fought both abroad and on the home front in past conflicts.
