Sheffield was promised that Woodbourn Stadium would be openly available for athletes to train at following the demolition of Don Valley Stadium. This agreement has been reneged upon and the people of Sheffield betrayed.
It makes a mockery of the title, 'City of Sport' when our athletes cannot have access to even the most basic of facilities. We in Sheffield have traditionally 'punched above our weight' in producing athlete's such as Jessica Ennis, NIcola Adams, and Seb Coe, to name but a few. How can we continue to produce such talented athletes when we cannot provide quality training facilities with open access?
