Exercise of Delegated Authority to Enter into Grant Funding Agreements with Successful Applicants to the Waking Watch Relief Fund

Decision Maker: Director of Housing and Neighbourhoods Service

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Purpose:

The report seeks approval for the Director of Housing and Neighbourhood Services to exercise the delegated authority to sign off the Grant Funding Agreements (GFA) between the Council and four successful applicants to the Waking Watch Relief Fund (WWRF).

Decision:

That the Director of Housing and Neighbourhood Services:

1.    Exercises the delegated authority to agree to the Council entering in to grant funding agreements with the four successful applicants to the Waking Watch Relief Fund (WWRF) now the grant agreement is finalised, all information is available and the successful applicants known;

2.    Agrees to the Council entering into a grant agreement with a further successful applicant for the Wicker Riverside Apartments now the grant agreement is finalised which will replace the initial urgent letter issued earlier in the year; and

3.    Confirms approval to implement the WWRF as outlined in the report.

Reasons for the decision:

Fire safety is a high priority for Sheffield and nationally.  The approval to enter into GFAs will mean SCC can provide funds for the installation of appropriate fire alarms, ensuring the immediate safety of occupants and remove the costly burden of Waking Watch from leaseholders.

Alternative options considered:

As this is Government funding there is no alternative proposal as the City Council cannot use their own funds for this work.
