Decision details

SCC Housing Repairs and Maintenance - Procurement of Short Term Measured Term Works Contracts

Decision Maker: Executive Director, Place

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Purpose:

The purpose of the report is to seek authority for the Council to procure a number of short-term contracts to address backlog maintenance issues within the Housing Repairs and Maintenance Service

Decision:

That the Executive Director, Place:

1.    Authorises spend up to £1,214,148 to be funded in line with the approved     Housing Revenue Account (HRA) repairs budget.

2.    Approves the Housing Repairs and Maintenance Service to directly appoint:

i.               Up to 2 x Roofing Repairs Contractors

ii.              Up to 2 x General Build Contractors to work on Void Properties.

iii.             Up to 2 x General Build Contractors to work on Housing General  Repairs.

Reasons for the decision:

To allow the Housing Repairs and maintenance to service to engage with contractors on a short term basis to address backlog maintenance issues on the Council’s social housing stock.

Alternative options considered:

a)    Utilise existing contractor framework – (insufficient capacity to make any meaningful impact on the backlog works)

b)    Undertake the work in-house - (insufficient capacity to make any meaningful impact on the backlog works).

c)    Do nothing – The Council has a responsibility to maintain it’s social housing stock to a decent standard.
