(b) Petition Requiring Debate The Council’s Petitions Scheme requires that a petition containing over 5,000 signatures be the subject of debate at the Council meeting. A qualifying petition has been received as follows:- Sheffield People’s Petition To debate an electronic petition containing 7,478 signatures, stating “We, the undersigned, being local government electors for the area of Sheffield City Council, to whom this petition is addressed, seek a referendum on whether the Council should be run in a different way by one or more committees made up of elected councillors”.
