The Committee was established
on 1 September 2016 and merged the functions of the former
Audit and
Standards Committees.
It is a key part of the
Council's corporate governance arrangements and it oversees and
assesses the Council’s risk management, control and corporate
governance arrangements and advises the Council on the adequacy and
effectiveness of these arrangements. It also has
responsibility for the statutory financial reporting process
through approval of the Statement of Accounts.
In addition, the Committee is
responsible for promoting high standards of conduct by
Councillors and co-opted members, overseeing the Members’
Code of Conduct and considering complaints that a Member may have
breached the Code.
Further information is available on the
Procedure for Dealing with Standards Complaints.
