Cabinet received a report of the Children, Young People & Family Support Scrutiny and Policy Development Committee on the outcome of its task group to look at how to increase the voice and involvement of young people in scrutiny.

8.2

RESOLVED: That:-

(a) the Children, Young People & Family Support Scrutiny and Policy Development Committee be thanked for its work in relation to voice and involvement of Young People in Scrutiny;

(b) the Voice and Involvement of Young People in Scrutiny Task Group 2019/20 Report that is attached as Appendix 1 to the report now submitted be noted; and

(c) a Cabinet response to scrutiny recommendations to the Children, Young People & Family Support Scrutiny and Policy Development Committee be deferred.

8.3

Reasons for Decision

To allow a focus on the evolving situation arising from the Coronavirus pandemic a response to the Scrutiny Committee recommendations be deferred for now and a report be brought back in due course.

8.4

Alternatives Considered and Rejected

An alternative option in relation to the recommendations would be to do nothing with the Task Group Report. However, given the time and effort spent by the Task Group, and contributions to the work and recommendations from Young People and advocates across the city this is not deemed a viable option.
