Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing - Individual Cases

Report of the Chief Licensing Officer.

Minutes:

4.1	The Chief Licensing Officer submitted details in respect of four cases relating to hackney carriage and private hire licensing.

4.2	The licence holder in Case No.15/23 did not attend the hearing.

4.3	The applicant in Case No.34/23 did not attend the hearing and agreed that his case be heard in his absence.

4.4	The applicant in Case No.36/23 attended the hearing with a representative and they both addressed the Sub-Committee.

4.5	The applicant in Case No.38/23 did not attend the hearing.

4.6	RESOLVED: That, after consideration of the information contained in the case papers, and the information now reported and, where relevant, circulated either prior to the meeting, but after publication of the agenda, or at the meeting, the cases now submitted be determined as follows:-

	15/23	Review of a Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver’s Licence	Defer consideration of the application to be heard on the next available date.

	34/23	Application to extend a Hackney Carriage Vehicle Licence	Extend the licence until 4^th June 2023, on the grounds that the applicant has provided sufficient evidence to convince the Sub-Committee that there are exceptional reasons to deviate from the current policy on the age limit of vehicles.

	36/23	Application for a Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver’s Licence	Grant the licence for three years as applied for, on the grounds that the Sub-Committee considers the applicant to be a fit and proper person to hold a licence.

	38/23	Application to renew a Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver’s Licence	Defer consideration of the case until the outcome of the pending Court case was known.
