Arrangements for Council Meetings

To agree a programme of meetings of the Council in 2014/15 and, in accordance with Council Procedure Rule 10.2, the formula for the order in which Notices of Motion will be listed on the Council Summons.

Minutes:

 

RESOLVED: On the motion of Councillor Pat Midgley, seconded by Councillor David Baker, that:-

 

 

 

(a)           (i) ordinary meetings of Full Council in the Municipal Year 2014/15 be held in the Town Hall at 2.00 p.m. on the first Wednesday in every month except March, May and August (when no ordinary meeting will be held) and in April 2015 (when the meeting will be held instead on Wednesday 25th March 2015 in order to (A) accommodate the holding of a major conference in the Town Hall on the first Wednesday in April and (B) avoid a clash with the Easter holiday period and the Pre-Election Rules on Publicity period relating to the Municipal and General elections in May 2015, which would be the case(s) should the meeting be held later in April) and accordingly the meetings be held on the following dates:-

 

2nd July 2014; 3rd September 2014; 1st October 2014; 5th November 2014; 3rd December 2014; 7th January 2015; 4th February 2015; and 25th March 2015;

 

(ii) the special meeting of the Council for the purposes of approving a Revenue Budget and Capital Programme and setting the Council Tax for the Financial Year 2015/16 be held on Friday, 6th March2015 at 2.00 p.m. in the Town Hall; and

 

(iii) the annual general meeting of the Council in 2015 be held on Wednesday, 20th May 2015 at 11.30 a.m. in the Town Hall; and

 

(b)            further to Council Procedure Rule 10.2, (i) the formula for the order in which Notices of Motion shall be listed on the Council Summons for the July and September 2014 ordinary meetings of the Council shall be as follows:-

 

July 2014 -

Labour/Labour/Lib Dem/Labour/Labour/Lib Dem/Green/UKIP, repeated

 

September 2014 -LibDem/Labour/Labour/LibDem/Labour/Labour/Green/UKIP, repeated;

 

and (ii) the formula for the remainder of the Municipal Year be the subject of discussion between the political groups with a view to identifying an order that reflects the political composition of the Council and be agreed at the July or September Council meeting.
