Action not just words- we call on the council to act now on Race Equality by creating a dedicated BAMER (Black, Asian Minority Ethnic and Refugee Organisations) Community Infrastructure Fund.

We the undersigned petition the council to act now on Race Equality. We applaud Sheffield's Race Equality Commission but now we want action not just words. We want the council to dedicate ring fenced funding to: • address historic underinvestment in black and minority ethnic led organisations • celebrate the significant cultural contributions these groups make to our diverse city • recognise and support the critical frontline services these organisations are delivering during a time of unprecedented challenge

We want £2 million of the approximately £10 million Community Infrastructure Levy (levied on property developments within the city boundaries) to be ring fenced for investment in the community infrastructure of black and ethnic minority led organisations across the city.

This investment will simultaneously address historic injustice and build the sustainable community infrastructure needed to deliver for all our communities, in partnership with the local council, in the months and years ahead.

We call on the council to act NOW. The time for words is past and the diverse community of Sheffield demands practical action for Race Equality.
