Sheffield City Council (SCC) and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council (RMBC) are jointly issued with a Ministerial Direction from His Majesties Government (HMG) to implement a local Clean Air Plan (CAP) to reach legal annual average limits of 40µg/m3 for nitrogen dioxide (NO2) from road transport in the shortest possible time and within 2023.
Whilst significant reductions in NO2 from road transport were observed at CAP monitoring locations across the whole of Sheffield in 2023, some locations remain above legal limits.
Following from the first monitoring report in December 2023, this report will update on findings of the 2024 local Clean Air Plan (CAP) monitoring survey of vehicle types and emissions standards travelling in the Sheffield Local Authority area in late September / early October 2024. It will recap on the observed change in nitrogen dioxide (NO2) levels from road transport observed in the 2023 annual average monitoring data.
