Seeking approval to develop a frame work to manage the future procurement of tree maintenance work across all council land (except highways). Currently all tree maintenance work on council land (except highways) is procured through a quote-based process using multiple local contractors. Changes in climatic conditions and introductions of new pests and diseases has seen a significant rise in costs in carrying out essential remedial/safety work to make trees safe. In order to follow procurement regulations it is now necessary to carry out the procurement of tree work through a long-term framework agreement.
