Young People's Services Review - Extension of Current Contracts

A review of the commissioning and delivery arrangements for young people’s services is underway.  In order to allow time to conclude the Leader Review of Young People’s Services and the subsequent implementation of the outcomes of the review and any new delivery model this report requests approval for the extension and/or re-procurement of a number of Young People’s support services while this review is concluded to ensure continuity of support and provide a legal framework for continued delivery of existing provision up to 30 September 2020.

Reason for urgency:
Following the decision of Cabinet on 18 July to approve a review of the Council Youth Services provision, consideration needed to be given to interim arrangements that needed to be made. This led to the publication on the forward plan of the intention for the Leader to make a decision on proposals to ensure continuity of services pending the outcome of the review. One of the services to which the proposals relate is the subject of contratual arrangements that are due to expire on 30 September 2018 and any contract extentions approved by this decision needs to be inmplemented immediately to ensure the Council is able to continue to meet its statutory obligations.
